Leadership and Governance
The Director
The Director, Mike Stratton, has overall responsibility for all areas of the Sanger Institute, reporting to GRL Board three times per year and the Wellcome Trust Board of Governors once per year.
The Heads of Programmes, the Chief Operating Officer and the Director of Scientific Operations report directly to Mike Stratton.
Director's Office
Mike Stratton takes direct responsibility for overall science strategy and Faculty recruitment through his Director’s Office.
Board of Management
The Sanger Institute’s Board of Management (BoM) includes the Heads of the five Science Programmes, the Chief Operating Officer, the Director of Scientific Operations, the Head of Finance, the Head of HR, the Director of Wellcome Connecting Science, and a representative from Wellcome.
The Board of Management is responsible for advising and supporting the Director in his management responsibilities. Specifically it ensures that the Institute’s science is delivered according to its research plans through effective leadership, management and oversight.
Faculty
The Faculty conceive, drive and deliver Sanger Institute science through their vision, imagination and intellectual energy.
